The Gold Coast Turf Club, in collaboration with Aquis Farm, has revealed an ambitious initiative to host the equestrian events of the 2032 Olympic Games in the Gold Coast and Scenic Rim regions. This strategic move aims not only to bring significant economic advantages to these areas but also to spotlight the tourism treasures they boast, including the stunning Surfers Paradise skyline and the picturesque Gold Coast hinterland.
The comprehensive plan outlined by the Gold Coast Turf Club and Aquis Farm entails utilizing the Gold Coast Turf Club infield for the show jumping and dressage competitions during the 2032 Olympics, while the renowned Elysian Fields Equestrian Centre at Canungra, part of Aquis Park, will serve as the venue for the eventing competitions and double as the training and quarantine facility.
This proposal is set to be formally presented to the 2032 Olympic Games Infrastructure and Coordination Authority and the Queensland State Government early next year. The Gold Coast Turf Club, following a recent $80 million infrastructure enhancement funded by the Queensland Government, showcased its upgraded facilities in grandeur during the launch of night racing, featuring captivating drone displays, laser exhibitions, and live entertainment for the equestrian community.
Elysian Fields, known for its top-tier equestrian amenities and a proven track record as a world-class open-air entertainment venue, complements the Gold Coast Turf Club’s infrastructure impeccably, making them prime choices for hosting the equestrian events. Gold Coast Turf Club CEO Steve Lines emphasized the unparalleled suitability of these venues, highlighting their ability to offer world-class settings that also highlight the region’s remarkable tourism assets.
With the show jumping and dressage events set against the dazzling Gold Coast Turf Club lights, spectators can anticipate a visually stunning backdrop of Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach skylines, while the eventing competitions at Aquis Farm will showcase the natural beauty of the Gold Coast Hinterland. Elysian Fields’ strategic location, just a short drive from the Gold Coast and Brisbane, positions it as an ideal hub for training and quarantine facilities, ensuring convenience for competitors and staff who can access the amenities of major cities nearby.
The proposal not only promises world-class equestrian events in exceptional settings but also envisions supplementary entertainment options to enhance the overall spectator experience. Moreover, it is projected to be a cost-effective solution for taxpayers, offering optimal benefits for athletes and spectators alike. With substantial support from stakeholders already secured, the organizers anticipate further backing in the upcoming weeks, setting the stage for a promising Olympic equestrian showcase in 2032.
