The Gold Coast Turf Club, in collaboration with Aquis Farm, has revealed an ambitious plan to host the Equestrian Events for the 2032 Olympics. The proposal aims to bring significant economic advantages to the Gold Coast and Scenic Rim regions while showcasing the stunning tourism assets of the area, including the Surfers Paradise skyline and the picturesque Gold Coast hinterland.

The comprehensive plan involves utilizing the Gold Coast Turf Club infield for the show jumping and dressage competitions of the 2032 Olympic Games. Additionally, the esteemed Elysian Fields Equestrian Centre at Canungra, part of Aquis Park, will serve as the venue for eventing and as a training and quarantine facility.

This initiative will be formally presented to the 2032 Olympic Games Infrastructure and Coordination Authority and the Queensland State Government in the early stages of the upcoming year. The Gold Coast Turf Club recently underwent an $80 million infrastructure enhancement, sponsored by the Queensland Government, which was unveiled in a grand manner during the historic launch of night racing.
Elysian Fields, renowned for its top-tier equestrian facilities and exceptional open-air entertainment amenities, is strategically positioned about 45 minutes from the heart of the Gold Coast and an hour from Brisbane, making it an ideal hub for training and quarantine facilities.
Steve Lines, the CEO of the Gold Coast Turf Club, emphasized that both venues possess the necessary infrastructure to host world-class equestrian events. He highlighted the unique advantage of showcasing the Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach skylines during show jumping and dressage, while the Gold Coast hinterland’s beauty would be on display during the eventing at Aquis Farm.

Moreover, the proximity of these venues to major cities like Brisbane and the Gold Coast offers competitors and spectators access to a wide array of amenities and attractions. Lines envisioned a scenario where these locations not only host prestigious equestrian competitions but also provide top-notch entertainment options for the audience’s enjoyment.

The proposal has garnered substantial support from stakeholders, with organizers anticipating further endorsements in the weeks ahead. By leveraging these premier venues and the region’s natural beauty, the plan aims to create an unforgettable experience for athletes and spectators alike, all while being cost-effective for taxpayers.
