Dartmouth College’s equestrian team has secured a spot in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Single Discipline Championship for the second consecutive season. The team, known as the Big Green, has clinched the fourth seed in the national championship, marking a significant achievement for the riders.

Set to compete against Lynchburg in the first semifinal at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla., Dartmouth’s equestrian squad is gearing up for the challenge ahead. Head Coach and Director of Riding, Tenley Walsh, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming competition while emphasizing the importance of experience gained from last year’s tournament. With four out of six riders returning from the previous year’s team, the Big Green aims to leverage their familiarity with the event to deliver strong performances.

Following a commendable performance at the ECAC Championship where they secured a second-place finish, Dartmouth’s equestrian team boasts an overall record of 5-4 this season, including an impressive 5-2 record against single discipline teams. The team’s success has been further highlighted by the recognition of four members on the All-ECAC Team, with Samantha Takacs earning the title of Fences Rider of the Year.

Looking ahead, the Big Green is focused on sustaining their momentum and aiming for two more team efforts to conclude the season on a high note. Should they progress, Dartmouth will face off against the winner of the Sweet Briar and Charleston matchup in the single discipline national championship, presenting an exciting opportunity for the team to showcase their skills on a national stage.
