Anne Rita Bertschy, a Swiss young rider turned Philippine Grand Prix rider, has recently made her senior Grand Prix debut in 2015 on two horses, Tenson and Ventoux. Relocating permanently to The Netherlands to focus on her sport career, Anne Rita expressed her honor in representing the Philippines, her mother’s nation, alongside her Swiss heritage.
Championing the opportunity to introduce dressage to the Philippines, Anne Rita believes it will not only benefit the sport but also pave the way for a future dressage team from the country. Despite facing challenges, including a setback in 2010 when her horse Tenson suffered a severe injury, Anne Rita remained resilient and dedicated to her equestrian pursuits.
During Tenson’s recovery period, Anne Rita pursued her university studies in Psychology and Sport, balancing her academic commitments with her passion for dressage. With unwavering loyalty to her coach, Anky van Grunsven, she commuted between Switzerland and Holland to train, demonstrating her commitment to both her education and equestrian goals.
Now focusing on her Masters in Clinical Psychology and her equestrian career, Anne Rita is determined to excel in the dressage arena. Partnered with Ventoux, a 13-year-old Dutch warmblood, Anne Rita is embracing the challenge of forming a new partnership and realizing their full potential together.
Expressing admiration for Ventoux’s character and potential, Anne Rita is dedicated to continuous training and improvement. Her aspirations include competing in national and international shows in 2016, aiming to achieve top scores in Grand Prix competitions and elevate the presence of the Philippines in global dressage.
As she nears the completion of her academic journey, Anne Rita remains focused on honing her skills and gaining valuable experience in the dressage world.
